Tonic-Clonic Seizures

Tonic-clonic seizures are a type of seizure characterized by two phases: the "tonic" phase, where muscles stiffen, causing a person to lose consciousness and fall; followed by the "clonic" phase, involving rhythmic, jerking movements. These seizures usually last a few minutes and can be very frightening to witness. During the event, the person may also experience biting their tongue or cheek, incontinence, and confusion afterward. They result from abnormal electrical activity in the brain and require immediate medical attention. Proper diagnosis and treatment can help manage seizures and improve quality of life.
