tongue tie

Tongue tie, or ankyloglossia, is a condition where the strip of tissue connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth is unusually short or tight. This can restrict tongue movement, making it difficult to lift or extend the tongue properly. It may cause challenges with breastfeeding, speech development, and oral hygiene. The degree of restriction varies, and some individuals may not experience problems. Treatment is often a simple procedure called a frenectomy, which releases the tongue tie to improve movement and reduce associated issues.
