Tone mapping

Tone mapping is a technique used in photography and computer graphics to adapt the range of brightness in an image so it looks good on displays with limited contrast, like screens. Cameras and the real world often have a wider range of light than screens can show, causing bright areas to appear washed out or dark areas to lose detail. Tone mapping compresses or remaps these brightness levels, preserving details and creating a balanced, natural-looking image. It helps us see scenes more like our eyes do, ensuring both dark and bright features are visible and aesthetically pleasing.
