Toenail Fungus

Toenail fungus is a common infection caused by fungi that develop under the nail, leading to discoloration, thickening, and brittleness. It often begins as a small white or yellow spot but can progress, causing the nail to crumble or separate from the nail bed. The infection can result from exposure to moist environments like pools or locker rooms or from injuries. It’s more common in older adults and people with suppressed immune systems.
