Toba (Lake Toba)

Lake Toba, located in North Sumatra, Indonesia, is the largest volcanic lake in the world, formed around 74,000 years ago after a supervolcanic eruption. This massive eruption created a caldera—a crater that filled with water—resulting in a stunning 100-kilometer-long lake. The eruption was so powerful that it significantly impacted the Earth's climate and is linked to one of the Earth's largest volcanic events. Today, Lake Toba is not only a natural wonder with stunning scenery but also a cultural site, home to the Batak people and their traditional villages.
