Toba caldera

Toba Caldera is a large volcanic crater in Indonesia, formed by a supereruption around 74,000 years ago. This massive eruption released enormous volumes of ash and gases, significantly impacting the climate worldwide. The caldera measures approximately 100 by 30 kilometers (62 by 19 miles) and now hosts several lakes, including Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world. Toba’s history highlights the power of supervolcanoes and their potential to cause widespread environmental changes. Today, it remains an active volcanic area, monitored for signs of future activity.
