TLR4

TLR4 (Toll-like receptor 4) is a protein found on certain immune cells that acts like a sensor for detecting harmful substances, especially components of bacteria such as lipopolysaccharides. When TLR4 recognizes these signals, it triggers an immune response to fight off infections. It plays a critical role in how our bodies identify threats and activate defense mechanisms. TLR4 is also involved in inflammation and has been studied for its links to conditions like sepsis, autoimmune diseases, and even some chronic inflammatory disorders.
