TLC scanner

A TLC scanner is a device used in laboratory analysis to detect and measure substances separated on a Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) plate. After a sample mixture is applied and developed on the plate, the scanner passes a light or UV source over it to identify specific compounds based on their light absorption or fluorescence. The scanner records the intensity of the signals, producing a visual graph called a chromatogram. This helps scientists quickly and accurately identify and quantify the components in complex mixtures, making the process faster and more precise than manual observation.
