TIVA Techniques
TIVA, or Total Intravenous Anesthesia, is a method of providing anesthesia using only intravenous (IV) medications, without inhaled gases. It involves administering drugs like propofol and opioids through a vein to keep a patient safely unconscious during surgery. TIVA allows precise control of anesthesia depth, reduces certain side effects like nausea, and avoids the use of inhalers. It is often used for longer procedures or when inhaled anesthetics are contraindicated. The anesthesia is carefully monitored and adjusted to ensure the patient remains comfortable, stable, and fully unconscious throughout the operation.
