Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving federal funding. This means that schools, hospitals, and other organizations that receive government money must treat all individuals equally and cannot exclude or treat them unfairly because of their background. If discrimination occurs, individuals can file complaints, and federal funding may be revoked from non-compliant organizations. Title VI aims to promote equality and protect the civil rights of all people in the United States.
