Title II firearms
Title II firearms, also known as "machine guns" or "class 3 weapons," are firearms that are heavily regulated under U.S. law. They include automatic weapons, silencers, short-barreled rifles, and other specified weapons. To lawfully own Title II firearms, individuals must undergo a special background check, pay a tax stamp, and register the weapon with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). These regulations aim to control the distribution and use of high-powered or potentially dangerous weapons, distinguishing them from more common firearms like handguns and rifles.
