Titicaca Lake

Lake Titicaca, located high in the Andes on the border between Peru and Bolivia, is the largest freshwater lake in South America by volume and surface area. It sits at about 3,812 meters (12,507 feet) above sea level, making it one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. The lake covers approximately 8,372 square kilometers (3,232 square miles) and is known for its deep blue waters and stunning scenery. It holds cultural significance for indigenous communities and is believed to be the birthplace of the Incas. The lake supports diverse ecosystems and is vital for local livelihoods, including fishing and tourism.
