Titanic (shipwreck)
The Titanic was a British passenger liner that sank on April 15, 1912, during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. After hitting an iceberg in the North Atlantic, the ship, considered “unsinkable,” faced a catastrophic failure. Of the over 2,200 passengers and crew on board, more than 1,500 perished, making it one of the deadliest maritime disasters in history. The tragedy led to significant changes in maritime safety regulations, including improvements in lifeboat requirements and iceberg monitoring, as well as heightened awareness of the dangers of ocean travel.
