Titanic (ship)
The Titanic was a British passenger ship launched in 1912, designed to be the largest and most luxurious vessel of its time. Sponsored by the White Star Line, it was built with advanced safety features, yet it famously sank after hitting an iceberg during its maiden voyage from England to New York. The collision caused the hull to rupture, flooding the lower compartments. Despite having lifeboats for only part of the passengers, over 1,500 people died in the disaster. The sinking highlighted the limitations of maritime safety then and led to significant changes in international maritime regulations.
