Titan's atmospheric composition
Titan's atmosphere is primarily made up of nitrogen, similar to Earth's air, making up about 98%. It also contains a significant amount of methane, around 2%, which plays a key role in creating complex organic molecules and clouds. Trace amounts of other gases like hydrogen, ethane, and some organic compounds are present. The atmosphere is thick and cold, with temperatures around -179°C (-290°F), resulting in a hazy, orange-looking sky. This unique mixture supports complex chemical processes that could resemble early conditions on Earth, making Titan a fascinating subject for study in planetary science.
