tissue repair
Tissue repair is the body's natural process of healing and restoring damaged or injured tissues. When tissue is injured, the body activates a series of steps: blood vessels nearby constrict to slow bleeding, then widen to allow cells that help healing—like immune cells, skin, and new blood vessels—to reach the area. These cells work together to remove damaged tissue, fight infection if needed, and rebuild new tissue. Over time, the area strengthens and regains function, either by forming a scar or, in some tissues, regenerating the original tissue structure.
