Tissaphernes (Persian Satrap)

Tissaphernes was a Persian satrap, or governor, of Lydia and Ionia during the 5th century BCE. As a regional ruler, he managed Persian interests in Asia Minor and played a key role in the conflict between Persia and Greece, especially the Peloponnesian War. Tissaphernes was known for balancing loyalty to Persia with local politics, sometimes supporting Greek city-states when it suited Persian strategy.
