Tirthankaras (Jain Prophets)
Tirthankaras are revered spiritual teachers in Jainism, an ancient Indian religion. The term translates to "ford-makers," signifying their role in guiding others across the river of suffering to enlightenment. Jains believe there have been 24 Tirthankaras, with Mahavira, who lived around 600 BCE, being the most recent. Each Tirthankara teaches the path to liberation through non-violence, truth, and asceticism. They represent ideals of morality, compassion, and self-control, serving as role models for Jains in their pursuit of spiritual progression and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
