Tirthankar

A Tirthankar is a revered spiritual teacher and enlightened figure in Jainism, believed to have achieved perfect knowledge and liberation. The term means "ford-maker," symbolizing their role in helping others cross the spiritual ocean. Tirthankars regenerate spiritual teachings and set an example of non-attachment, truth, and compassion. There are twenty-four Tirthankars in Jain tradition, with Lord Mahavir being the last. They are regarded as ideal human beings whose lives guide followers toward spiritual liberation, emphasizing ethical conduct, self-discipline, and inner purity.
