Tiro
Tiro was a Roman-born poet and scholar, best known as the first editor of the Latin epic poet Virgil. In the early 1st century BCE, he compiled and published the first collection of Virgil’s poetry, helping to shape how later generations knew his work. Tiro also invented a shorthand system called Tironian Notes, which was widely used in ancient Rome for efficient writing and record-keeping. His contributions are significant in preserving Latin literature and improving written communication in the classical world.
