TIR System

The TIR System (Transports Internationaux Routiers) is a global customs transit system that allows vehicles carrying goods to move across borders efficiently and securely without customs interventions at each stop. Developed by the UNECE, it uses a harmonized set of rules and a secure customs document called the TIR carnet, which guarantees customs duties and taxes will be paid if needed. This system simplifies international freight transport by reducing delays and costs, fostering smoother trade between countries that are part of the TIR agreement, while ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
