TIR Convention
The TIR Convention (Transport Internationaux Routiers) is an international treaty that simplifies and standardizes the process of transporting goods across multiple countries by road. It establishes a system where goods can move quickly and securely without repeatedly stopping for detailed customs checks at each border, using a special customs clearance document called the TIR carnet. This arrangement reduces delays, lowers costs, and facilitates international trade by creating a trusted framework between countries to ensure that goods are properly documented and safely transported.
