Timezones
Timezones are regions on Earth where the local time is the same, based on the position of the sun. Since Earth rotates approximately 15 degrees every hour, the planet is divided into 24 zones, each roughly an hour apart. This division helps cities and countries coordinate daily activities with daylight hours. Timezones differ by hours from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is the global reference. As you travel east or west across timezones, clocks move forward or backward, ensuring local time aligns with daylight and darkness, facilitating communication and scheduling worldwide.
