Time Signature
A time signature in music indicates how the beats are organized within a measure, or bar. It’s written as a fraction, like 4/4 or 3/4, where the top number shows how many beats are in each measure, and the bottom number indicates which note value counts as one beat. For example, 4/4 means four beats per measure, and each beat is a quarter note. The time signature helps musicians stay synchronized and gives the music its rhythmic feel, whether steady like march music or more flowing like waltzes.
