"Time Exceeded" is a message indicating that a data packet traveling across a network has taken too long to reach its destination. Networks use a timer to prevent endless loops when routes are incorrect or changing. If the packet's journey exceeds this limit, the network stops trying and sends back a "Time Exceeded" notification. This helps identify routing issues or delays, ensuring data resources aren't wasted on undeliverable packets. Essentially, it signals that the packet's travel time has run out, and further attempts to deliver it have been halted.
