Time complexity measures how the amount of time a computer program takes to complete grows as the size of its input increases. It helps us understand the efficiency of algorithms by predicting their performance with larger data sets. For example, an algorithm with low time complexity scales well, running quickly even as data grows, while one with high complexity may become slower. It’s expressed using mathematical notation (like O(n), O(log n)), indicating whether it increases linearly, logarithmically, or in other ways relative to input size.
