tilma of Juan Diego

The tilma of Juan Diego is a simple cloak made of rough woven tilma fiber, which he used as clothing. According to tradition, in 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to Juan Diego and asked him to build a church. When he later presented his tilma to the church leaders, an image of the Virgin Mary was miraculously imprinted on it. This tilma, now kept in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, remains a revered religious artifact, symbolizing the Virgin's presence and the enduring faith of many Catholics.
