Tigua Tribe
The Tigua Tribe, also known as the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, is a Native American group based in Texas with roots tracing back to the Tiwa people of New Mexico. They have maintained their cultural identity through traditions, language, and ceremonies despite historical challenges. The tribe was officially recognized by the U.S. government in 1987, affirming their sovereignty and rights. Today, they preserve their heritage through cultural events, a tribal government, and educational efforts, contributing to the diverse tapestry of Native American history and culture in the southwestern United States.
