Tiger shark

The tiger shark (*Galeocerdo cuvier*) is a large, powerful marine predator known for its distinctive dark vertical stripes on juvenile sharks, which fade with age. It can grow over 16 feet long and weigh over 1,400 pounds. Found in warm, coastal waters worldwide, tiger sharks are opportunistic eaters, consuming a wide variety of prey, including fish, sea turtles, seabirds, and even inanimate objects. They play a vital role in maintaining healthy marine ecosystems by controlling prey populations.
