Étienne Bézout

Étienne Bézout was a 18th-century French mathematician known for his work in algebra and geometry. He made significant contributions to understanding how polynomial equations intersect, developing methods to find common solutions. His most famous achievement, Bézout's Theorem, states that two algebraic curves of degrees m and n generally intersect in exactly m×n points (counting multiplicities), unless they share a common component.
