tidal processes
Tidal processes are caused mainly by the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun on Earth’s oceans. The moon's gravity creates a pull that causes the water to bulge outward in the side of Earth closest to it, creating a high tide. At the same time, on the opposite side, another high tide occurs due to the centrifugal force from Earth's rotation. As the Earth rotates, different areas pass through these bulges, experiencing high and low tides each day. These cycles influence coastal ecosystems, navigation, and ocean currents.
