Tics

Tics are sudden, repetitive movements or sounds that some people make involuntarily. They can be brief like blinking or throat clearing, or more complex like facial grimacing or sequences of movements. Tics often fluctuate in intensity and may be triggered or worsened by stress, excitement, or fatigue. While most tics are harmless, they are commonly associated with conditions like Tourette syndrome. The exact cause isn't fully understood, but it involves irregularities in brain circuits controlling movement and behavior. Tics are usually manageable and many people notice a decrease over time or with strategies to reduce stress.
