Tibetan Government-in-Exile
The Tibetan Government-in-Exile, officially called the Central Tibetan Administration, is a government organization established by Tibetan leaders who fled Tibet in 1959 after China’s military takeover. Based in Dharamsala, India, it seeks to represent the interests of the Tibetan people, preserve Tibetan culture, and promote autonomy or independence from Chinese rule. While it has no official international recognition and cannot govern Tibet directly, it functions as a symbolic and administrative body advocating for Tibetan rights, cultural preservation, and negotiated political solutions with China.
