Thyroglobulin antibodies

Thyroglobulin antibodies are immune proteins that mistakenly target thyroglobulin, a protein produced by the thyroid gland essential for making thyroid hormones. Normally, the immune system protects the body, but in some cases, it erroneously produces antibodies against its own thyroid components. The presence of thyroglobulin antibodies can indicate autoimmune thyroid diseases, such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease. Detecting these antibodies helps doctors diagnose these conditions and understand the immune system's role in thyroid health. While they don’t typically cause symptoms directly, their levels can influence thyroid function and disease management.
