Thyroglobulin

Thyroglobulin is a large protein produced by the thyroid gland, which is located in your neck and helps regulate hormones related to metabolism and energy. It serves as a precursor for the production of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). When the thyroid is functioning normally, thyroglobulin remains within the gland, but if the thyroid or related tissues are damaged or cancerous, it can be released into the bloodstream. Measuring thyroglobulin levels is often used by doctors to monitor thyroid health and detect the recurrence of thyroid cancer after treatment.
