Thymic Hyperplasia

Thymic hyperplasia is a condition where the thymus gland, located in the chest and important for immune system development, becomes enlarged due to increased cell growth. This can occur in response to certain medical conditions, such as after pregnancy, or in association with autoimmune diseases like myasthenia gravis. Despite its size increase, the gland usually remains functional. Sometimes, it mimics thymic tumors on imaging, so doctors may perform additional tests to confirm the diagnosis. Overall, thymic hyperplasia is a benign condition related to immune activity and not cancer.
