Thylacine (Tasmanian Tiger)
The Thylacine, also known as the Tasmanian Tiger, was a unique carnivorous marsupial native to Australia and Tasmania. Recognizable by its slender body, sandy or yellow-brown coat with dark stripes across its back and tail, it resembled a large, dog-like predator. It had a pouch like a kangaroo for its young. The Thylacine primarily hunted small animals and was most active at night. Sadly, it became extinct by the early 20th century due to factors like hunting, habitat loss, and disease, with the last known individual dying in captivity in 1936. Today, it remains a symbol of wildlife conservation and the impact of human activity.
