Thromboxane A2

Thromboxane A2 is a small molecule produced by platelets, the cells that help blood clot. It plays a key role in promoting clot formation by causing blood vessels to narrow and making platelets stick together. This helps prevent excessive bleeding after an injury. However, in some cases, too much thromboxane A2 can lead to unwanted blood clots, which may cause heart attacks or strokes. Medications like aspirin work by reducing thromboxane A2 production to help lower the risk of clot-related problems.
