Thrombocythemia
Thrombocythemia, also known as essential thrombocythemia, is a blood disorder where the body produces too many platelets, the cells responsible for clotting. This excess can cause abnormal blood clots, leading to events like strokes or deep vein thrombosis, or result in unusual bleeding. Often, it occurs due to a mutation in certain blood cells, disrupting normal regulation. While some people may experience no symptoms, others might notice headaches, dizziness, or tingling. Management depends on the risk of complications and may involve medications to control platelet levels and reduce clotting risks.
