Three-way catalyst

A three-way catalyst is a device used in cars' exhaust systems to reduce harmful emissions. It converts dangerous gases—carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and unburned hydrocarbons—into less harmful substances like carbon dioxide (CO₂), nitrogen (N₂), and water vapor. It achieves this by using special materials that facilitate chemical reactions at high temperatures, effectively cleaning the exhaust before it exits the vehicle. This helps lower pollution and meets environmental standards, making vehicles more eco-friendly.
