Three Gorges Dam (China)

The Three Gorges Dam in China is a massive hydroelectric power station built across the Yangtze River to generate electricity and control flooding. It spans about 2.3 kilometers (1.4 miles) and includes a large concrete dam, a ship lift, and a powerhouse with turbines. By harnessing river flow, it produces around 22,500 megawatts of electricity, enough to power millions of homes. Additionally, it helps manage seasonal flooding and improves river navigation. However, the dam also caused environmental changes and displaced many communities. Overall, it is one of the world's largest and most controversial infrastructure projects.
