Thoracoscopic procedures
Thoracoscopic procedures, also called video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), are minimally invasive surgeries performed inside the chest. A small camera, called a thoracoscope, along with surgical tools, are inserted through tiny incisions between the ribs. The camera transmits images to a monitor, helping the surgeon see and operate on structures like the lungs, chest wall, or lymph nodes. These procedures typically cause less pain, involve shorter recovery times, and reduce complications compared to traditional open surgery, making them effective for diagnosing or treating various chest conditions such as tumors, infections, or pleural diseases.
