Thomas Muntzer

Thomas Müntzer was a German preacher and reformer during the early 16th century, involved in the Protestant Reformation. He believed that true religion required social and political upheaval to establish justice and equality, advocating for the poor and oppressed. Müntzer rejected the authority of the Catholic Church and emphasized personal spiritual experience. His radical views led him to support revolutionary actions against the church and rulers, culminating in his leadership during the German Peasants' War (1524-1525). He was captured and executed in 1525, remembered as a symbol of radical reformers who combined religious faith with calls for social change.
