Thomas Hamilton was a Scottish schoolteacher and the perpetrator of the 1996 Dunblane school shooting, one of the deadliest events of its kind in the UK. He had a background in education and was known to have a troubled personal history, which included difficulties in his professional and personal life. On a tragic day in March 1996, Hamilton entered Dunblane Primary School and opened fire, resulting in the deaths of 16 children and one teacher, before taking his own life. His actions led to significant changes in UK gun laws and increased awareness about mental health issues related to violence.
