Thomas Frieden is an American physician and public health expert known for his work in disease control and prevention. He served as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 2009 to 2017, where he focused on improving health security and responding to outbreaks like Ebola and Zika. Frieden has been influential in promoting public health initiatives that tackle issues such as tobacco use and obesity. After leaving the CDC, he became the president of the global health organization Resolve to Save Lives, which aims to prevent epidemics and reduce cardiovascular disease globally.
