Thomas Campbell (philosopher)

Thomas Campbell was a 19th-century American philosopher and preacher who developed a metaphysical system known as the "To Do" philosophy. He proposed that reality is a collective consciousness or universal mind, where individual souls or "monads" evolve by experiencing and learning. Our physical world is a part of a larger divine purpose aimed at spiritual growth, and free will influences our development. Campbell believed that understanding our divine connection fosters moral responsibility and personal progress, emphasizing that life’s purpose is to gain knowledge and love through experiences within an interconnected cosmos.
