Thomas Beale

Thomas Beale was an American mine engineer from the 19th century, best known for the mysterious Beale Ciphers—a set of three encrypted messages. One of these ciphers supposedly reveals the location and contents of a hidden treasure of gold, silver, and jewels worth millions. Despite efforts by cryptographers and treasure hunters, only one of the ciphers has been deciphered, which describes the treasure's contents.
