Thirteen Moons
Thirteen Moons refers to a traditional lunar calendar based on the cycles of the moon, totaling approximately 13 months per year. Each "moon" corresponds to a full lunar cycle, roughly 29.5 days long, marking natural points like new moon and full moon. This system was used by many Indigenous cultures to track time, seasons, and agricultural activities. Instead of a solar year of about 365 days, the lunar calendar aligns with lunar phases, providing a rhythmic, observant way to organize time in harmony with natural celestial phenomena.
