Thin-film filters

Thin-film filters are specialized optical components made of very thin layers of material, usually deposited onto a glass or plastic substrate. These layers are carefully designed to selectively reflect or transmit specific wavelengths of light while blocking others, based on interference effects. This allows the filter to isolate certain colors or parts of the spectrum, which is useful in cameras, telescopes, and scientific instruments. The precise control over layer thickness and materials enables these filters to achieve high performance with minimal light loss and sharp spectral boundaries.
