Thimerosal

Thimerosal is a mercury-containing compound historically used as a preservative in some vaccines to prevent bacterial contamination. It helps keep multi-dose vials safe over time. Although concerns about mercury exposure arose, scientific studies have found no evidence that thimerosal in vaccines causes harm, and its use has been reduced or eliminated in many vaccines. Regulatory agencies like the CDC and WHO consider vaccines containing thimerosal safe for most people. Today, thimerosal is primarily used in some other medical products rather than vaccines, ensuring safety while maintaining product integrity.
